Many people wonder – will Jews be saved? They suppose that since the Bible says that “salvation is of the Jews” (John 4:22), you can be either a Christian or a Jew and be saved. But does this make sense? After all, of the main points of the Jewish religion is that they reject Jesus as the Messiah; and the Bible is quite clear that without Jesus, we cannot be saved.

Acts 4:12 (RSV) And there is salvation in no one else, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which WE MUST be saved.“

So have the Jews found another road to salvation? Have they found ANOTHER name to be saved with, while rejecting Jesus? Is there more than one way to be saved? Let’s start by looking at someone like, say, the Hindus. Now the Hindus are not bad people – nor are they any less worthy of salvation than you or I. They’re all people, just like us, and God loves them all since He created them all.

But that said, we’re talking about salvation here – and for salvation, you MUST believe in Jesus! There is NO other name in Heaven that can get you saved – Not Buddha, or Allah, or Adonai or Yahweh. This name Jesus is required – no other will do….

Romans 10:9 That IF thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Now think about it! This is at the corner of EVERY Biblical recipe for salvation – IF you confess that Jesus is the Christ, and believe He was raised from the dead, you will be saved. There are other things you have to do as well, of course, but this is at the FOUNDATION.

And yet if any Hindu confesses that Jesus is the Christ, well, he won’t be a Hindu anymore! He’ll be a Christian! And if any Muslim says that Jesus is the Christ, and that He was resurrected from the dead, and BELIEVES in Jesus, he won’t be a Muslim, he’ll be a Christian!

But if the Muslim does not accept Christ, then he isn’t saved, for you MUST use the name of Christ and believe on Him to be saved!

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

How are we to obtain salvation? BY JESUS CHRIST! So no Jew who rejects Jesus Christ can be saved! Nor can any Hindu, Muslim, or witch doctor! But now let me address this scripture which is probably forming an objection in your mind:

John 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

The Jews did have access to salvation. They’d had access to it for thousands of years.

Romans 3:1-2 (BBE) How then is the Jew better off? or what profit is there in circumcision? Much in every way: first of all because the words of God were given to them.

These Jews had been the guardians of the writings of Moses and the prophets for 1500 years.

2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The only scriptures Timothy had known from “a child” – they only ones that had been written when he was a child – were the Old Testament scriptures. And Paul said that these scriptures were able to make him wise UNTO SALVATION. But not just any salvation! Salvation through FAITH! And not just faith in anything, but FAITH IN CHRIST! The Old Testament scriptures were ENOUGH to bring people to salvation through faith in Christ, believe it or not! Jesus said so!

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Jesus said that those same Old Testament scriptures testified of HIM!

John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

Abraham SAW Jesus coming, and was glad! Prophecies of Jesus are throughout the Old Testament, and those who truly loved God discovered them, as David did, by meditating on the Law (Psalms 119:97). So the point is, the Jews had access to all of that knowledge, and God gave them His words to protect for thousands of years – but when Jesus came, they REJECTED HIM!

John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Jesus was, racially, a Jew – and he went to the Jews and the Jews didn’t receive Him! They rejected Him and killed Him!

Verse 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

But those that did hear what He said, and obeyed Him, THEM He gave power to become sons of God – He gave that power to those who believed on HIS NAME.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

So the Jew had the first shot at salvation, yes. But the Jew rejected it. And if a Jew, even today, wants to believe – great! But he won’t be saved as he is, in his sins, while rejecting the payment for those sins, Jesus Christ.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

If a man isn’t born of water – that is, Baptized – and doesn’t receive the holy spirit – which God only gives to those who OBEY HIM, (Acts 5:32), he CANNOT enter the Kingdom of God. Jews reject baptism and reject Jesus, so they cannot be saved. Notice in all this I’m speaking of the Jewish religion, not the Jewish race. God doesn’t care what nation a person is from.

But your next objection might be “But Jesus was a Jew! Most of the apostles were Jews! ”

And they were… once.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

See, when you adopt the belief in Jesus, you cease to be a member of any religion, any race, any nationality. Jesus isn’t a Baptist. He isn’t a Catholic, and He isn’t a Jew. He follows God, and He is not a part of any organized Church. And He isn’t a citizen of Canada, or America, or of Israel – and neither are any of his followers.

Philippians 3:20 (Phillips) But we are CITIZENS OF HEAVEN; we eagerly wait for the saviour who will come from Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Or as the NKJV renders it “For our citizenship is in heaven”. See, when you are baptized and become a follower of Jesus, you are under HIS reign – and His command will take preference over any other on Earth. As Peter put it “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29). What that means is that you become a part of a heavenly kingdom, and leave behind your allegiance to all earthly kingdoms and religions.

Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

These men of faith in Hebrews 11 left behind their physical country and all physical allegiances that would pull them away from Christ. They left their religions, their kingdoms, their wealth – left all and became a citizen of the soon-coming heavenly kingdom. The same thing we must do.

So the point is… if you follow Christ, your ethnic background becomes immaterial. Jew, Greek, Slave – none of that matters. They’re all the same. Because they all left behind their physical ties and followed God instead.

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, IF ye continue in my word, THEN are ye my disciples indeed;

Jesus said this ONLY to those who believed Him! And told them that IF – and ONLY IF! – they continued in His word, obeying what He said, THEN they would be His disciples! Only THOSE Jews WHICH BELIEVED HIM had any hope of salvation as His disciples!

Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them THAT OBEY HIM;

He is the author of salvation ONLY to those THAT OBEY HIM! Do Hindus obey Jesus? Do they acknowledge that He is the Savior of mankind? Do they read His words and do what He said? Of course not! Therefore, they CANNOT be saved!

Do Jews obey Jesus? Do they admit that He was resurrected and is the son of God? Of course not. If they did, they wouldn’t be Jews.

Philippians 2:10 that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

EVERY knee – Jew, Hindu, Baptist, Buddhist, Catholic – ALL knees will bow before Jesus. They WILL accept Christ if they are to be saved. There is NO other road to salvation, than by bowing the knee before Jesus! Jews have NOT found a special way around that!

Don’t get me wrong – Jews CAN be saved. There is nothing wrong with the Jews that prevents them from being saved. But only if they bow their knee before Jesus! They WON’T be saved if they follow the Jewish RELIGION instead, which Jesus condemned mightily 2,000 years ago! (Matthew 16:12, for instance).

John 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

Because He didn’t obey the Sabbath according to the rules they had invented (rules which Jesus condemned them for in Mark 7:7), they persecuted Him and tried (ultimately successfully) to kill Him.

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

So the rift between Jesus and the Jews goes back to Biblical times. So think about it – if Jesus is the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS… If He rules EVERYONE and those in His kingdom obey Him… if being saved is about being obedient to Him… why would He save those who follow the Jewish religion, since they hated Him 2000 years ago, and hate Him today?

John 9:22 These words spake his parents, BECAUSE THEY FEARED THE JEWS: for the Jews had agreed already, that IF ANY MAN DID CONFESS THAT HE WAS CHRIST, he should be PUT OUT OF THE SYNAGOGUE.

If anyone confessed that Jesus was the Messiah, 2000 years ago, He would be put out of the Jewish synagogue – and if you do that in an orthodox Jewish synagogue today, the same thing will happen! You simply cannot believe in Jesus, and be a Jew! Now, any member of the Jewish RACE that accepts Christ can be saved! But only if they leave their religion behind and follow Him!

John 12:10-11 (Weymouth) The High Priests, however, consulted together to put Lazarus also to death, for because of him many of the Jews LEFT THEM and BECAME BELIEVERS IN JESUS.

NOTICE! The priests of the Jewish religion were angry, and wanted to kill Lazarus because MANY OF THE JEWS LEFT THEM!! They FORSOOK the Jewish religion and believed JESUS INSTEAD! And when that happened, those Jews could be saved! But to do so, they had to stop obeying the Jewish RELIGION, and indeed, cease to be Jews at all, but be citizens of Heaven!

See, the point is, Jews are not going to be saved. But neither are Baptists! Or Catholics! Or Buddhists! Nor Americans or any other physical group. Only those who believe what Jesus said, and OBEY what Jesus said, will be saved. Doesn’t matter what color they are, or what creed they were born into – EVERY knee must bow before Jesus. There simply is no other road to salvation.

So either YOU believe what Jesus said… or you don’t. If you want to believe Jews will be saved as they are, without the same repentance and baptism and obedience to the gospel of Jesus that you and I must do… then you have to reject Jesus yourself. For Jesus said that was impossible.

HE is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Reject that, and you’ve rejected the way to salvation, the truth of God, and eternal life.
