All the Churches in the world today believe that Grace allows you to break the law of God without being punished for it. They teach that Jesus kept they law so that you don’t have to – to take away the “burden” of keeping those commandments.

Other articles deal with that concept in detail, showing that Paul disowned this concept of grace (Romans 3:8) and considered it slander that people claimed that he taught it. We find Jude (Jude 4) the brother of Jesus condemning those who turned Grace into license to sin. Into a free pass to break the commandments of God. But in this article I want to focus on “Antique grace”. This false grace that is taught today is not new. It is in fact, very old. Very, very old. It predates even Paul.

It has gone unrecognized by most people because they don’t see clearly what the false grace taught by the world really is; so let me make it clear before I start. When you say that Jesus lived the commandments for you, it means that you don’t have to keep them at all. Sure, you should “try” to do “good”, but if you fail it really doesn’t matter. Because either way, you’re saved by “grace”

The problem with that is that God says the exact opposite; He says “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” and “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (John 14:15, 21)

Notice carefully that Jesus Himself said, as some of His last words to us, that IF you love Him, KEEP His commandments. And IF you keep His commandments it proves that you love Him, and He will love you back!

But when you say that we are not obligated to keep the ten commandments of God today, you in essence say that those who are evil (breaking the commandments of God) are good, and that God delights in them!

Malachi 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Malachi was written 400 years before Christ! And yet here we see that the ministry of the time was teaching lies and God was condemning them and telling them that they wearied Him with what they were saying – and they were saying exactly what the world today says! That if you do EVIL (break the law, 1 John 3:4) then you are GOOD, and God LOVES you anyway! Which is the OPPOSITE of what God says!

Proverbs 28:9  He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

But that is only one example of Antique grace. In the days of Jeremiah, 600 years before Christ, THE EXACT SAME THING was taught by the priesthood who had turned away from God!

Jeremiah 7:8-9  Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

Here Jeremiah lists six of the ten commandments, and says that Israel is trusting in words that are LIES! Lies that CANNOT profit them! And what words are they? HE goes on to tell us what they were saying…

Verse 10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, WE ARE DELIVERED to do all these abominations?

Just as the protestant world today believes that Christ DELIVERED us to do those EXACT SAME abominations – lying, stealing, adultery, and all the other commandments! But to make this perfectly clear let’s look at it in another translation…

Verse 10 (Calvin Bible) And come and stand before me in this house, Which is called by my name, and say, “We have been made free To do all these abominations?”

“This house” which is called by “God’s name” is a biblical symbol for a CHURCH that is named after him. I.E., church of Christ, church of God, and any church that claims to serve him. And so the world comes and stands in a CHURCH called by his name, and says “WE ARE MADE FREE FROM THE TEN COMMANDMENTS!”

How many times have YOU heard a minister say THOSE EXACT WORDS?? Never suspecting that he was only repeating a lie that has been around for over twenty-six hundred years! And not realizing the enormous HARM he was doing to those who trusted him to lead them to Christ!

But that is still not the oldest example of this doctrine! David, over 1000 years before Christ, 3000 years ago, saw people DOING THE SAME THING!

Psalms 119:126  It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

David here, in the chapter where he extols the many virtues of the perfect, holy and righteous law of God condemns those wicked who are making God’s law VOID, or EMPTY. Who are making it powerless and meaningless – as if Christ had lived it for them and it meant nothing now!

As if by faith they are able to leave the law of God of which David a few pages before had said “So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.(Psalms 119:44), when even Paul, whom everyone wrongly says did away with the law, VEHEMENTLY DENIES THIS!

Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? GOD FORBID: yea, we establish the law.

Paul did NOT make void the law! HE did NOT take the power away from the law of God, and make the ten commandments any less binding on us today! He did NOT say “Let us do evil, that good may come”!

Romans 3:8 (BBE) Let us not do evil so that good may come (a statement which we are falsely said by some to have made), because such behaviour will have its right punishment.

So you see that three thousand years ago men were saying that no obedience was required to make God happy with you – that you were “free” to break the ten commandments and God would love you anyway – despite the condemnation of all the prophets and even Jesus Christ Himself!

Matthew 5:17 THINK NOT that I am come to DESTROY THE LAW, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

So where did this idea originate? Long before the world was, God ruled heaven and earth, as He still does. And by “rule” it means that God gave orders, as a King does, and others obeyed them. But one person resented this…

Isaiah 14:13-14 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

This is God speaking to Satan, recounting the story of what led to his fall. Satan HATED the rule of God! He RESENTED God’s authority to tell him what to do – to prevent him from doing WHAT he wanted, WHEN he wanted! And today, Satan is the GOD of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) And to the world, he doesn’t appear with a pitchfork and horns, but deceitfully as a righteous, holy angel!

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Satan is a GOD of this world – not a king, or a prince, but a GOD – and a god with his own apostles, and ministers, and followers – not in cults like the Church of Satan or in witches covens, not appearing as evil and demonic, but appearing RIGHTEOUS, and HOLY, and an ANGEL BRINGING LIGHT AND TRUTH to the world! And DECEIVING the world!

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And so when the ministers of Satan talk about the law of God, WHAT WILL THEY TEACH? Will they teach that it is holy, just and GOOD, to obey God’s commandments as Paul did (Romans 7:12), or will they teach that the law is an onerous burden that God carried so that we don’t have to – that the law is a weak, powerless, outdated idea God made only by accident?

Which does Satan believe? That God MUST be obeyed, EVERY word that proceeds from His mouth is binding? Or that God doesn’t really care what man does? Because he is the inventor of false grace. His mind is the mind that created the idea that we are FREE from the Law – because he thinks that when he rebelled from God, he freed himself from the need to obey God!

And now he calls you, too, from every pulpit in the land, to join Him in his rebellion and be FREE from God’s commands – saying “WE ARE MADE FREE FROM THE TEN COMMANDMENTS!”

Do you believe him?
